GUYS. We have made it to Thursday. HALLELUJAH.
We deserve some type of award, right? a medal of some kind? A ridiculously large glass of wine, at least?
Life’s been a little tough- I mean, we wake up- it’s dark. I leave work- it’s honestly pitch black outside. How did this happen? Did you guys know it’s November? HOLIDAY CUPS AT STARBUCKS HAVE ARRIVED FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. Wasn’t it New Year’s a few weeks ago?
I digress. Not on the darkness though- it’s not the best news for my Seasonal Depressive Disorder, which a lot, a lot of us suffer from. It’s hard to stay mentally healthy and happy when we’re submerged in actual darkness all the time. Girls just wanna have Vitamin D, amiright?
So to combat my Seasonal Downs, I’ve tried hitting up the gym a considerable amount more than usual. Gotta get my endorphins somehow, ya dig? So as I’ve recently embarked on Class Pass, and it’s caused to get weirdly motivated to well, be well. To listen to my body. To feed it with the things it craves- and not the usual cupcakes, cookies, donuts, etc.,. With actual things that are green, a few fruits, some protein and dare I say… vegetables? Yes, you read that right.
It’s been kind of an eye opening couple of weeks. I’m sure there’s a word vomit in the form of a blog post coming your way about it.
But in the mean time, I’ve been hitting Instagram for tips, tricks and serious freaking thinspo (it’s more like health-spo, but that’s just not as catchy). So, if any of you are riding the same wave of motivation, or maybe craving some, I wanted to share some of the Chicago fitness bloggers who are helping me wake up, workout, kick ass, and maybe even eat a vegetable, and sometimes, repeat.
@bun_undone
This gal is the cutest – she’s incredible at talking wellness, which I feel like more and more is lost in the “health” Instagram accounts. She’ll inspire you not just to hit the gym a couple of extra times, but take time to do whatever it is that you need to in order to be refuelled. Plus her photos are ah-mazing (the photographer has been featured on L&C too, check out my girl @paigebabilla !).
@whitneyysimmons
Ok, don’t think Whitney is a Chicago blogger specifically, but this girl is beautiful and provides unreal workouts on her ‘Gram. Check her out stat.
@powered.by.beets
Although I will never understand eating beets , I can completely get behind this adorable Insta account. She’s so stinkin’ cute, honest and keeps it real- we’re here for it.
@fitcityblonde
One of my favorite things about fitness is finding friends who keep me accountable. I love this account and the little community they built to inspire others to do the same.
@toneitup
Again, not a Chicago-specific account, but I’m including them anyways! It’s a community built to keep you inspired and help you love – and take care of- the body you were given. They offer everything from booty workouts to smoothie recipes and tips to get you over that unmotivated hump you might be facing.
@loveandlemons
So the eating part is without a doubt my biggest hurdle in this whole fitness journey, and I am seriously obsessed with this lady for all of the healthy recipes she offers. Plus, girl can take a mean flat lay.
@lettucebehappy
Not certain this gal is from Chicago either, but adore her for her advocacy of self love plus she puts out some seriously healthy (and delicious) snack-spo and gotta love somebody that helps ya snack.
@erinmurr
Girlfriend has a full-time job, also teaches yoga, travels, eats healthy, volunteers and um, is a freaking brain tumor survivor. Like, ok. You are literally my ultimate inspiration. She’s honest and real and I just dare you not to be utterly inspired by her.
@ambitiouskitchen
I actually found this lady very recently and became obsessed because I’m trying to come up with some healthy-ish dishes for Thanksgiving. Girlfriend’s got recipes and workouts galore. Definitely check this Chicago boss lady out!
Any IG accounts you guys are loving for some health-spo during these dreary Chicago months?
