If you are feeling the “quarantine blues,” an exercise routine can help to make you feel a little bit better. Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people don’t kill their husbands go crazy during a global lock-down! Luckily, lots of local Chicago fitness centers and gyms are offering different resources for at-home exercise. So you can get your endorphins, and hopefully stay sane even stuck inside! Start the next week off by making a plan based around all their Instagram Live broadcasts or other work out videos so you can have a productive time that’s still full of fun and movement.
Studio Three
Studio 3 is streaming their workouts for FREE live on their Instagram page. Classes are typically 7:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. with some scattered “pop-up classes”. These are most strength-based workouts with an emphasis on yoga form (and they always seem to pepper, in our opinion, a bit “too much” cardio). These classes are tough and will definitely leave you sweaty. They also offer a little uplifting meditation with their “ReasonS3 to Smile,” a 3-minute live connection to express gratitude on Sunday/Tuesday/Thursday at 8:30 p.m. Such a wonderful addition to their schedule 🙂 They just announced an extensive class list for current (and new!) members, so now is the perfect time to try all of these classes!
Title Boxing
Title Boxing offers live classes on Instagram. And if you can’t catch class real-time, their workouts are saved to the highlights section of their page. Their classes are designed to “engage the body, mind and spirit by channeling the fundamentals of a true boxer’s workout.” You don’t need anything to participate in these classes – so no need to install a boxing bag in your living room! They also offer group training via Zoom for extra accountability and coaching. Give the classes a try first and see if it’s worth adding the Zoom coaching as well.
Shred 415
Shred415 has free 15-minute workouts Monday – Friday available via their Facebook. Anyone can add 15 minutes of movement into their day! They are also doing full workout streams, which you can access with a membership or by purchasing their live-stream classes. In the past, Shred415 has offered some fun extras, like a 30-minute live-stream workout designed for your whole family (kiddos included!) as well.
Yoga Six
YogaSix is making it easy to keep up your yoga practice at home. They’re offering daily class via Zoom, including things like power flows, restorative flows, and sculpt flows. If you don’t have equipment at home, YogaSix is also offering a package of yoga props which they can mail right to your door (the package includes a mat, blocks, strap and bolster). Classes do require an active membership which you can sign up for via their Instagram. They will leave you centered and calm even in a time of uncertainty.
Studio Fit Chicago
Studio Fit Chicago is an all-female fitness studio dedicated to helping women achieve their goals and feel confident. They are offering virtual classes on Instagram, including programs like HIIT, body-weight barre and yoga. They are also renting out equipment like weights, resistance bands, balls, blocks, etc., available to both VIP members and non-members. They are also selling yoga mats. Check them out on their Instagram!
