We have officially encountered the “New Year’s hump” as I like to refer to it. In January, we were riding on inspiration adrenaline, and when Carol brought cookies to work, we repeated the “new year, new me” mantra excitedly in our heads on repeat. Not even tempted by your cookies, Carol!

But then February rolls around, and now when I see a plate of brownies, instead of my thinspiration picture coming to mind, a pretty violent illustration of me making love to said brownies pops up in it’s place. And right here, this, is where a lot of people fall of the New Year’s Resolution bandwagon forever. Well, until next January 1st at least.

Here are some of the tips and tricks that have helped me stay on track to achieving my goals for 2016:

1.Accountability

Tell someone else your goals so even when you face temptation to catch up on the Bachelor, you head to the gym. You’ve probably heard that in every article similar to this one though. So here’s what I’m going to tell you: head to Fit Body Boot Camp. It’s a half hour of hell- in the best possible way for your abs, butt, arms and legs. And while I dig anything that can get you in shape in a meer 30 minutes, my favorite part was the community. Because you’re seeing the same people most times you head to the gym, there’s approximately 20 people that will know you hit the couch during designated gym time.

Another one of my favorite parts of the gym, is that many of the coaches leading you through you workouts were actually in the same boat as you: A New Year’s Resolution-er that got tired of falling short a few months into the year. It’s a great deal more inspirational to take direction from someone that had to work their butt as hard as you are to get to where they are. This gym is opening new locations like crazy so you must go check it out!

2.Pick A Workout You Don’t Detest

This tip also sounds basic, but so many people fall into the “50 minutes of treadmill erry day.” I love running, but treadmills make me want to shrivel up and die. If I plan a treadmill workout (unless it’s an interval), chances are, I will skip the gym. On days that I can’t run outside, I hit up a class at Equinox. As you all know, it’s my absolute favorite gym, and aside from incredible technology, innovative training, and just plain ol’ great design, Equinox offers the best workout classes I’ve ever attended. That sounds bold, but there is something about the energy in an Equinox class that is absolutely electric. I high fived like 6 girls during my latest venture there because everyone is legitimately excited to be working out and simultaneously having fun. It is actually weird, and if you attend Equinox classes, you know exactly what I’m talking about.

Need a class recommendation? Cut. Attend their Cut class and you will be forced to buy a gym membership at Equinox, I kid you not. It’s high-intensity, gives you killer abs and tonnage all over, and I didn’t look at the clock once. You will never look back.

3.Write Your Goal Down. Then Tape It To Your Face.

Just kidding about the tape it to your face part. But seriously, write that shiz down. Write it in dry-erase marker in the mirror you use to get ready. Write it in your planner. Put a picture on your dashboard that is your goal. Look at your goal as much everyday as you can stomach because that will translate to thinking about your goal. And thinking becomes doing.

4.Look Cool.

Tip #4 might sound silly and slightly pretentious, but hear me out: if you’re investing your time into working out, invest some money too. Buy an pair of leggings that makes you feel bomb, and find a top that is super flattering. Feeling good is half the battle, and often times, it’ll help you notice progress. Anytime you notice progress, the reward part of your brain just lit up and sent happy endorphins to the rest of you.

2XU gets my endorsement for looking great even when you’re covered in sweat. Their clothing is notorious for sleek minimal design with pops of fun color, and also has technology that sucks you in. Their leggings are magical and make me feel 5 pounds lighter whenever I’m in them. So, naturally I never take them off. You’re welcome.
